Audio Tour App - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the app work? While driving, the blue dot on the map shows your position, and the route is shown as a blue line. At each audio point of interest, a window opens and the commentary starts automatically. You can expand it to see photos, videos, or other information about the site. Once a tour is downloaded, all audio files, maps, and information are available offline. Only external links and YouTube videos require an internet connection. Instructions and directions are built into the commentary, so you don't need to use another GPS.
2. How much does a tour cost? Each Exploor tour is a one-time purchase per car, not per person. The Lake Geneva Odyssey costs CHF 17.9 and the Romantic Road tour costs 14.90 EUR. You pay once, then everyone in the vehicle can enjoy the experience together. In the future, we will also offer bundles for several tours so you can discover more regions at a reduced price.
3. How long does a tour usually take? The tour is designed as a full day on the road, with regular stops and walking loops. If you want to explore almost everything, including extra photo breaks and longer visits, you should plan closer to two days. You can also split the itinerary into several shorter segments over different days if that suits your schedule better.
4. Do I need an internet connection to use the app? You need an internet connection once, to download the app, your tour and the offline map before your trip. On the day of the road trip, everything runs offline and uses only GPS, so you can enjoy the full experience even with no mobile coverage. External links, such as websites or videos, will still require a connection.
5. Will the audio play automatically when we reach each point of interest? Yes, that is the core principle of Exploor. Once your tour is downloaded and GPS is activated, the app uses your position to trigger live commentary as you enter each GPS zone. As you see the landscape, villages or monuments outside, the narration starts automatically and explains what you are looking at, without you needing to touch your phone.
6. Can I start, pause and resume a tour whenever I want? Yes, you are completely free. You can do the tour in one full day, spread it over several days or just enjoy one segment at a time. You can pause for lunch, a swim or a museum, then resume exactly where you stopped, or jump directly to a specific part of the route. You can even pick it up again the next day or the following weekend, you stay free to continue whenever it suits you.
7. Where are the tours located? The first Exploor tour is a scenic loop of about 80 km around Lake Geneva, between Lausanne and Villeneuve. It includes highlights such as Vidy and the Olympic park, the Lavaux UNESCO vineyards, Saint Saphorin, Vevey, Montreux, Chillon Castle and the Lausanne Old Town. New European routes are in preparation and will be added step by step.
8. Are the tours only meant for driving? Yes, Exploor is built first as a road trip by car. The timing of the audios, the choice of roads and the suggested stops are all designed for drivers and passengers who want to discover a region at their own pace. The experience also works very well in a campervan, taxi, ride share or on a motorbike, as long as you follow roughly the same roads and can stop when you want.
9. How do the walking loops work during the tour? At some key stops, the app invites you to park and explore on foot. Most walking loops last around 30 minutes and fit easily into your day. Some loops are fully guided, with audio that triggers automatically as you walk, just like in the car. Others are more free, with points of interest marked on the map that you can tap to hear stories whenever you like.
10. Do I need to keep my smartphone charged? Yes, your smartphone's location feature uses more battery than usual. It's unlikely the battery will last all day. To avoid interruptions, it's essential to keep your smartphone charging during the tour. Here are several ways to charge it: #1 - Via the vehicle's USB port: This is the simplest solution, especially if you're using this port for audio. However, if you're using Bluetooth, interference may occur. #2 - With an adapter on the 12-volt socket: Plug your smartphone directly into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket using an adapter. #3 - With a power bank: If you have one, this is also a practical and flexible option.
11. Are the tours available in different languages? Yes. Tours are currently available in French and English. German is planned as the next language, and other languages will follow as Exploor expands to new regions. You simply choose your preferred language in the app.
12. Can the audio play through my car's speakers? Yes, the app works like a regular audio or music app, so you can listen through your car speakers via Bluetooth, cable or your usual connection. This is the experience we strongly recommend, because the tour mixes narration and music, and good sound really makes the journey more immersive and enjoyable for everyone in the car.
13. How can I play the app's audio commentary through my car's sound system? #Option #1 - Bluetooth Connection: Use a separate charging cable, as plugging the phone into the USB port at the same time can cause interference. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone. Start a Bluetooth pairing on the car's multimedia system. Confirm pairing on both devices. If pairing fails, manually search for the car's Bluetooth in your phone settings. Make sure the vehicle's audio source is set to 'Bluetooth' and displays your phone's name. Test by playing commentary through the app. If problems persist, try another connection method. #Option #2 - USB or AUX Cable: Some vehicles allow direct connection via USB or auxiliary cable. Plug the phone into the car's USB or AUX port. Check that the audio source is set to USB or AUX. Test by playing commentary. If it doesn't work, use the Bluetooth method instead. Note: Connecting to both USB and Bluetooth simultaneously can cause audio conflicts in some vehicles. #Option #3 - Apple CarPlay or Android Auto: Feature coming soon.
14. Do the tours expire or have a time limit? No, there is no time limit. Once you buy a tour, you keep lifetime access to it on your account, updates included. You can come back to the region months or years later and replay your favourite sections without paying again.
15. How do I buy a tour? Download the Exploor app on iOS or Android, open it and browse the available tours. Select the tour you want, read the description, check the price and then confirm with a secure in app payment. The tour is added to your account, and you can download it for offline use before your trip.
16. Do I have to follow the exact route suggested? The tour is designed as a loop, and you will get the best experience if you broadly follow this route. That is how the timing of the stories, viewpoints and walking loops has been optimised. That said, you stay in control. You can make detours, skip a stop that does not interest you or add your own viewpoints, then use the map to rejoin the official route whenever you are ready to continue.
17. Can we make the playback manual and just play audio when we want? Yes. At any time you can open the map or the list of stops and press play on an audio manually. This is ideal if you want to listen again to a favourite story, catch up on something you missed or enjoy the content at home after your trip. On the road, we still recommend keeping automatic GPS triggering active for the most natural experience.
18. Can I use Exploor with public transport, like a train or bus? Exploor is designed primarily as a car road trip, and this is where you get the full experience with freedom to stop and walk. However, a large part of the loop can also be followed by train or bus. In that case, some audios may not trigger automatically, because public transport does not always pass exactly through the GPS points. You can still open the map and play most stories manually when you reach a place, but automatic timing will be less precise than by car.
19. How will I know when new routes are available? The best way is to follow Exploor on social media. On Instagram, Facebook and TikTok we announce new tours, share previews, photos, local tips and sometimes contests and giveaways before a route goes live. When a new tour is released, it will also appear in the app catalogue, and you may see a notification inviting you to discover it.
20. Can I buy a tour for another person as a gift? Exploor tours are perfect to share in the same car with friends or family, using a single purchase. 1. Comment fonctionne l'application ? En conduisant, le point bleu sur la carte montre votre position, et l'itinéraire est représenté par une ligne bleue. À chaque point d'intérêt audio, une fenêtre s'ouvre et le commentaire se lance automatiquement. Vous pouvez l'étendre pour voir des photos, vidéos ou d'autres informations sur le site à visiter. Une fois un circuit téléchargé, tous les fichiers audio, les cartes et les informations sont disponibles hors ligne. Seuls les liens externes et les vidéos YouTube nécessitent une connexion Internet. Les instructions et directions sont intégrées aux commentaires, vous n'avez donc pas besoin d'utiliser un autre GPS.
2. Combien coûte un tour ? Chaque tour Exploor est un achat unique par voiture, et non par personne. L'Odyssée du Lac Léman coûte 17,9 CHF et le tour de la Route Romantique coûte 14,90 EUR. Vous payez une fois, puis tout le monde dans le véhicule profite de l'expérience. À l'avenir, nous proposerons aussi des packs avec plusieurs tours pour découvrir encore plus de régions à prix avantageux.
3. Combien de temps dure généralement un tour ? Le tour est conçu comme une journée complète sur la route, avec des arrêts réguliers et plusieurs petites balades à pied. Si vous voulez vraiment tout voir, avec du temps pour les photos, les visites et les pauses, il est plus confortable de prévoir proche de deux jours. Vous pouvez aussi le découper en plusieurs segments et les faire sur différents jours.
4. Ai-je besoin d'une connexion internet pour utiliser l'app ? Vous avez besoin d'une connexion une seule fois, pour télécharger l'app, le tour et la carte hors ligne avant le départ. Le jour du road trip, tout fonctionne hors ligne et utilise seulement le GPS. Vous profitez du tour même sans réseau mobile. Seuls les liens externes comme certains sites web ou vidéos nécessitent une connexion.
5. Est-ce que l'audio se lance automatiquement quand nous arrivons à un point d'intérêt ? Oui, c'est le principe même d'Exploor. Une fois le tour téléchargé et le GPS activé, l'app utilise votre position pour lancer automatiquement les commentaires dès que vous entrez dans une zone GPS. Vous voyez un paysage, un village ou un monument à l'extérieur, et au même moment la narration démarre pour vous expliquer ce que vous avez sous les yeux, sans toucher à votre téléphone.
6. Est-ce que je peux commencer, mettre en pause et reprendre un tour quand je veux ? Oui, vous êtes complètement libre. Vous pouvez faire le tour en une journée, l'étaler sur plusieurs jours ou ne profiter que d'un segment à la fois. Vous pouvez vous arrêter pour manger, vous baigner ou visiter un musée, puis reprendre exactement là où vous vous étiez arrêté ou passer directement à une autre partie de l'itinéraire. Vous pouvez même reprendre le lendemain ou le week end suivant, vous choisissez le rythme qui vous convient.
7. Dans quelles régions se trouvent les tours ? Le premier tour Exploor est une boucle panoramique d'environ 80 km autour du Léman, entre Lausanne et Villeneuve. Il passe par Vidy et le parc olympique, les vignobles en terrasse de Lavaux (UNESCO), Saint Saphorin, Vevey, Montreux, le Château de Chillon et la vieille ville de Lausanne. De nouveaux itinéraires en Europe, sont en préparation et seront ajoutés progressivement.
8. Les tours sont-ils uniquement prévus en voiture ? Oui, Exploor est pensé d'abord comme un road trip en voiture. Le choix des routes, le rythme des audios et la position des arrêts sont conçus pour les conducteurs et leurs passagers qui veulent explorer une région à leur propre rythme. L'expérience fonctionne aussi très bien en camping car, covoiturage ou à moto, à condition de suivre globalement le même trajet et de pouvoir s'arrêter pour profiter des points de vue et des balades.
9. Comment fonctionnent les boucles à pied pendant le tour ? À certains endroits clés, l'app vous suggère de vous garer et de découvrir les lieux à pied. La plupart des boucles durent autour de 30 minutes, ce qui s'intègre facilement dans la journée. Certaines balades sont entièrement guidées, avec des commentaires audio qui se déclenchent automatiquement en marchant, comme en voiture. D'autres sont plus libres, avec des points d'intérêt visibles sur la carte que vous pouvez toucher pour écouter les histoires quand vous le souhaitez.
10. Dois-je laisser mon Smartphone en charge ? Oui, la fonction de localisation de votre smartphone consomme davantage de batterie que d'habitude. Il est donc peu probable que la batterie tienne toute la journée. Pour éviter les interruptions, il est essentiel de laisser votre smartphone en charge pendant le circuit. Voici plusieurs moyens de le recharger : #1 - Via le port USB du véhicule : C'est la solution la plus simple, surtout si vous utilisez ce port pour écouter l'audio. Toutefois, si vous utilisez le Bluetooth, des interférences peuvent survenir. #2 - Avec un adaptateur sur la prise 12 volts : Branchez votre smartphone directement à la prise allume-cigare de votre véhicule à l'aide d'un adaptateur. #3 - Avec une batterie externe (power bank) : Si vous en possédez une, c'est également une option pratique et flexible.
11. Les tours sont-ils disponibles en plusieurs langues ? Oui. Les tours sont actuellement disponibles en Français et en Anglais. L'allemand arrivera comme prochaine langue, puis d'autres langues suivront au fur et à mesure du développement d'Exploor en Europe. Vous choisissez simplement votre langue préférée dans l'app.
12. Est-ce que l'audio peut passer par les haut-parleurs de ma voiture ? Oui, l'app fonctionne comme une app audio classique. Vous pouvez écouter le tour sur les haut-parleurs de votre voiture via Bluetooth, câble ou votre connexion habituelle. C'est même ce que nous recommandons vivement, car le tour mélange narration et musique. Un bon son rend l'expérience beaucoup plus immersive et agréable pour tout le monde dans le véhicule.
13. Comment diffuser les commentaires de l'application sur le système audio de ma voiture ? #Option #1 - Connexion Bluetooth : Utilisez un câble de charge séparé, car brancher le téléphone sur le port USB en même temps peut créer des interférences. Activez le Bluetooth sur votre téléphone. Lancez un appairage Bluetooth sur le système multimédia de la voiture. Confirmez l'appairage sur les deux appareils. Si l'appairage échoue, recherchez manuellement le Bluetooth de la voiture dans les paramètres de votre téléphone. Assurez-vous que la source audio du véhicule est réglée sur 'Bluetooth' et affiche le nom de votre téléphone. Testez en lançant un commentaire via l'application. Si des problèmes persistent, essayez une autre méthode de connexion. #Option #2 - Câble USB ou AUX : Certains véhicules permettent une connexion directe par USB ou câble auxiliaire. 16. Est-ce que je dois suivre exactement l'itinéraire proposé ? Le tour est conçu comme une boucle optimisée pour les paysages, le timing des histoires, les parkings et les balades. Vous aurez la meilleure expérience en suivant globalement cet itinéraire. Mais vous restez maître de votre journée. Vous pouvez faire un détour, sauter un arrêt qui vous intéresse moins ou ajouter votre propre point de vue, puis utiliser la carte pour rejoindre à nouveau la route officielle quand vous le souhaitez.
17. Est-ce que je peux lancer les audios manuellement et écouter quand je veux ? Oui. À tout moment, vous pouvez ouvrir la carte ou la liste des arrêts et lancer un audio manuellement. C'est idéal pour réécouter une histoire que vous avez aimée, rattraper un passage ou profiter du contenu depuis chez vous après le voyage. Sur la route, nous recommandons toutefois de garder le déclenchement automatique par GPS activé, pour une expérience plus fluide et naturelle.
18. Puis-je utiliser Exploor en transports publics, comme le train ou le bus ? Exploor est pensé en priorité pour un road trip en voiture, c'est là que vous profitez pleinement de la liberté de vous arrêter et de découvrir. Une grande partie de la boucle peut cependant être suivie en train ou en bus. Dans ce cas, certains audios ne se déclencheront pas automatiquement, car les transports publics ne passent pas toujours exactement par les points GPS. Vous pourrez tout de même ouvrir la carte et jouer la plupart des histoires manuellement, mais le timing sera moins précis qu'en voiture.
19. Comment savoir quand de nouveaux itinéraires sont disponibles ? Le meilleur réflexe est de suivre Exploor sur les réseaux sociaux. Sur Instagram, Facebook et TikTok, nous annonçons les nouveaux tours, publions des photos, des conseils locaux, des aperçus et parfois des concours et cadeaux avant même la sortie officielle. Quand un nouveau tour est disponible, il apparaît aussi dans le catalogue de l'app et vous pourrez éventuellement recevoir une notification vous invitant à le découvrir.
20. Puis je acheter un tour pour l'offrir à quelqu'un ? Exploor est parfait à partager dans la même voiture avec des amis ou en famille, une seule acquisition suffit pour tout le véhicule. Si vous souhaitez offrir un tour à quelqu'un qui voyagera sans vous, l'option la plus simple est de lui offrir une carte cadeau Apple App Store ou Google Play Store. How does the app work?

While driving, the blue dot on the map shows your position, and the route is shown as a blue line. At each audio point of interest, a window opens and the commentary starts automatically. You can expand it to see photos, videos, or other information about the site. Once a tour is downloaded, all audio files, maps, and information are available offline. Only external links and YouTube videos require an internet connection. Instructions and directions are built into the commentary, so you don't need to use another GPS.

How much does a tour cost?

Each Exploor tour is a one-time purchase per car, not per person. The Lake Geneva Odyssey costs CHF 17.9 and the Romantic Road tour costs 14.90 EUR. You pay once, then everyone in the vehicle can enjoy the experience together. In the future, we will also offer bundles for several tours so you can discover more regions at a reduced price.

How long does a tour usually take?

The tour is designed as a full day on the road, with regular stops and walking loops. If you want to explore almost everything, including extra photo breaks and longer visits, you should plan closer to two days. You can also split the itinerary into several shorter segments over different days if that suits your schedule better.

Do I need an internet connection to use the app?

You need an internet connection once, to download the app, your tour and the offline map before your trip. On the day of the road trip, everything runs offline and uses only GPS, so you can enjoy the full experience even with no mobile coverage. External links, such as websites or videos, will still require a connection.

Will the audio play automatically when we reach each point of interest?

Yes, that is the core principle of Exploor. Once your tour is downloaded and GPS is activated, the app uses your position to trigger live commentary as you enter each GPS zone. As you see the landscape, villages or monuments outside, the narration starts automatically and explains what you are looking at, without you needing to touch your phone.

Can I start, pause and resume a tour whenever I want?

Yes, you are completely free. You can do the tour in one full day, spread it over several days or just enjoy one segment at a time. You can pause for lunch, a swim or a museum, then resume exactly where you stopped, or jump directly to a specific part of the route. You can even pick it up again the next day or the following weekend, you stay free to continue whenever it suits you.

Where are the tours located?

The first Exploor tour is a scenic loop of about 80 km around Lake Geneva, between Lausanne and Villeneuve. It includes highlights such as Vidy and the Olympic park, the Lavaux UNESCO vineyards, Saint Saphorin, Vevey, Montreux, Chillon Castle and the Lausanne Old Town. New European routes are in preparation and will be added step by step.

Are the tours only meant for driving?

Yes, Exploor is built first as a road trip by car. The timing of the audios, the choice of roads and the suggested stops are all designed for drivers and passengers who want to discover a region at their own pace. The experience also works very well in a campervan, taxi, ride share or on a motorbike, as long as you follow roughly the same roads and can stop when you want.

How do the walking loops work during the tour?

At some key stops, the app invites you to park and explore on foot. Most walking loops last around 30 minutes and fit easily into your day. Some loops are fully guided, with audio that triggers automatically as you walk, just like in the car. Others are more free, with points of interest marked on the map that you can tap to hear stories whenever you like.

Do I need to keep my smartphone charged?

Yes, your smartphone's location feature uses more battery than usual. It's unlikely the battery will last all day. Here are several ways to charge it: #1 - Via the vehicle's USB port: this is the simplest solution, especially if you're using this port for audio. However, if you're using Bluetooth, interference may occur. #2 - With an adapter on the 12-volt socket: plug your smartphone directly into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket using an adapter. #3 - With a power bank: if you have one, this is also a practical and flexible option.

Are the tours available in different languages?

Yes. Tours are currently available in French and English. German is planned as the next language, and other languages will follow as Exploor expands to new regions. You simply choose your preferred language in the app.

Can the audio play through my car's speakers?

Yes, the app works like a regular audio or music app, so you can listen through your car speakers via Bluetooth, cable or your usual connection. This is the experience we strongly recommend, because the tour mixes narration and music, and good sound really makes the journey more immersive and enjoyable for everyone in the car.

How can I play the app's audio commentary through my car's sound system?

Option #1 - Bluetooth Connection: use a separate charging cable, as plugging the phone into the USB port at the same time can cause interference. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone. Start a Bluetooth pairing on the car's multimedia system. Confirm pairing on both devices. If pairing fails, manually search for the car's Bluetooth in your phone settings. Make sure the vehicle's audio source is set to "Bluetooth" and displays your phone's name. Test by playing commentary through the app. If problems persist, try another connection method. Option #2 - USB or AUX Cable: some vehicles allow direct connection via USB or auxiliary cable. Plug the phone into the car's USB or AUX port. Check that the audio source is set to USB or AUX. Test by playing commentary. If it doesn't work, use the Bluetooth method instead. Note: connecting to both USB and Bluetooth simultaneously can cause audio conflicts in some vehicles. Do the tours expire or have a time limit?

No, there is no time limit. Once you buy a tour, you keep lifetime access to it on your account, updates included. You can come back to the region months or years later and replay your favourite sections without paying again.

How do I buy a tour?

Download the Exploor app on iOS or Android, open it and browse the available tours. Select the tour you want, read the description, check the price and then confirm with a secure in app payment. The tour is added to your account, and you can download it for offline use before your trip.

Do I have to follow the exact route suggested?

The tour is designed as a loop, and you will get the best experience if you broadly follow this route. That is how the timing of the stories, viewpoints and walking loops has been optimised. That said, you stay in control. You can make detours, skip a stop that does not interest you or add your own viewpoints, then use the map to rejoin the official route whenever you are ready to continue.

Can we make the playback manual and just play audio when we want?

Yes. At any time you can open the map or the list of stops and press play on an audio manually. This is ideal if you want to listen again to a favourite story, catch up on something you missed or enjoy the content at home after your trip. On the road, we still recommend keeping automatic GPS triggering active for the most natural experience.

Can I use Exploor with public transport, like a train or bus?

Exploor is designed primarily as a car road trip, and this is where you get the full experience with freedom to stop and walk. However, a large part of the loop can also be followed by train or bus. In that case, some audios may not trigger automatically, because public transport does not always pass exactly through the GPS points. You can still open the map and play most stories manually when you reach a place, but automatic timing will be less precise than by car.

How will I know when new routes are available?

The best way is to follow Exploor on social media. On Instagram, Facebook and TikTok we announce new tours, share previews, photos, local tips and sometimes contests and giveaways before a route goes live. When a new tour is released, it will also appear in the app catalogue, and you may see a notification inviting you to discover it.

Can I buy a tour for another person as a gift?

Exploor tours are perfect to share in the same car with friends or family, using a single purchase. If you want to offer a tour to someone who will travel without you, the simplest option is to gift them an Apple App Store or Google Play Store gift card so they can buy the tour directly in the app. For special occasions or group gifts, you can also contact us so we can suggest the best solution.
